Conclusion
This experiment demonstrated the process of cleaning up an oil spill in real life. Through this experiment, we have gained insights to how we could help more with cleaning up an actual oil spill in the ocean. We would still have to do a lot more research about the seawater though, as this experiment was conducted using fresh water. Our hypothesis turned out to be incorrect, but we were not too far off the actual results, seeing as we guessed that 60% would be contained and 90% would be absorbed, when the totals were that 80% was contained and 85% was absorbed. All in all, our experiment was largely successful as we contained as many of the variables as possible. Though our hypothesis was incorrect, we would still like to try this again with different materials to further explore how much better we could clean up the oil.
